Right in Raleigh

The liberal bias of the mainstream media (MSM) is finally being challenged. Dan Rather is out, Eason Jordan of CNN was forced to resign, the LA Times is under seige from the attacks of hughhewitt.com and opinionjournal.com reveals the daily bias of the NY Times. This blog will take on the local paper here in Raleigh, the News & Observer, and provide daily fodder to those who disdain not only the clear editorial malfeasance of the N&O, but also the consistent bias in the "news" reporting.

Imperial Grunts

Robert Kaplan again does a great job of explaining how Special Forces operate and what we are doing in Afghanistan in particular. This article just came out in The Atlantic Monthly and is included in the book of the same name (Imperial Grunts).

Kaplan (unlike hacks like Hersch) goes into the field with SF and has earned their trust by writing honestly (warts and all) about both the triumphs and tragedies of our recent experiences.

After graduating from West Point I served on the East-West German border in a cavalry unit and later graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course. I left active duty for an MBA at Wharton and then traded bonds for JP Morgan in NY. I was in NY and still in the reserves on Sept. 11th, so left Morgan to serve first in the Pentagon, then at Ft. Bragg (which brought me and the family to NC) and then overseas. When not blogging I try to remain active in the reserves, drive 3 daughters everywhere and help out with conservative causes.
